This list provides brief details of all new accessions of archives and manuscripts acquired by Special Collections between January and December 2006, by loan, gift or purchase, except for official University Archives and papers of University Staff and of Alumni; researchers are advised to make enquiries with the University Archivist for before making a visit

This list has been divided into the following sections:

Those accessions which are additions to existing collections are marked thus* and in such cases, both the collection finding number and the accession number for the addition is given; where the accession is a new collection, only the finding number is given. In a small number of cases a finding number has not yet been allocated and only the accession number is given. An indication is given of the size of each accession

Electronic catalogue records for some of these new acquisitions are available on our Online Archive Catalogue and some temporary handlists are available in electronic format. Further details and relevant links are given in the list below, as appropriate.

Records of Societies, Institutions and Businesses 

 *Church Pastoral Aid Society: additional deposit consisting primarily of educational resources from the CPAS library such as books, slides, film reels, videos and audio cassettes. The additional minutes and majority of the volumes are concerned with the work by women of the society, 1888-1990s. (Acc no: 2006/30) Finding no. CPAS

 Ebenezer Sabbath School:  Minute book documenting the establishment of a Sunday school, dated 1835-1845. Finding no: MS177

 Central (London) YMCA: Minutes and administrative records, deeds and other legal papers, publications and printed materials, ephemera, and records of associated boys clubs including Lord Kinnaird’s Own (10th Holborn YMCA) Boy Scout Troop, 1848-c 1980 (c 15 linear metres)  Finding No: CYMCA

 Sands Cox,  William (1802–1875), surgeon and founder of the School of Medicine, Birmingham: consisting of various material dating from the 1800s including personal papers; papers related to other members of the Cox family and associated families including the Litchfield, Sands and Payne families; letters to Sands Cox concerning the School of Medicine particularly concerning financial support; letters relating to the management and teaching in the College; newscuttings about the College and other material such as a framed portrait, commemorative silver trowel, estate plans etc. Finding no: MS220
